Fine Artist and Installation Artist
I have been a professional artist for over 20 years although I have been involved with art all my life. I work alone and in collaboration to produce work for exhibitions, projects, and workshops. One of my most successful collaborations has been with another artist Kathryn Wren where we have produced many works together.
My work continues to grow and move into other areas, through various art mediums such as 3D, drawing, painting, and photography. Installation art is the vehicle I use to predominantly express myself often combining painting, fabric, objects, and sculpture. The history and geography of the exhibiting environment will influence ideas and be factored into an installation piece as final works always have relevance to their site and locality. Reoccurring themes in my work are; maps, geography/geology, history, and journeys.
I have always been involved in community projects, at major events, or within local community spaces. I try to encourage participants to have go, learn new skills to relax, and have fun. I teach drawing, painting, and 3D work to children and adults offering bespoke individual sessions or full classes.
I have also worked on various projects in the public sector and schools, training and working alongside teachers, producing resources, making books, gaining commissions, workshops, and exhibitions. I have exhibited throughout the North East and internationally in Spain. I have also exhibited collaboratively and in group shows.
